Suitable for intermediate - advanced
In this three-day oil painting studio workshop explore how to create a sense of light, atmosphere and space in your landscape painting. By observing structure, proportion, light and tone, you will learn how to create the illusion of reality.
You will be guided through demonstrations and practical exercises exploring tonal studies, colour mixing and the development of a painting.
This course is for adults who wish to develop their oil painting practice and refine their skills.
Materials
- Flat Palette or Palette Pad
- Palette knife
- 3-4 Canvas boards or canvas (10x12 inch to 10x14 inch) or whatever feels comfortable.
- Brushes - I recommend synthetic Neef ‘Long Flat’ in size 6 (also if the budget allows size 4 and 8).
- Odourless solvent + two containers or jars for solvent (solvent MUST be odourless)
- Rags or paper towels
Oil paints:
Marie’s recommended colour palette is:
- Titanium White or Zinc White
- Ivory Black
- Burnt Sienna
- Yellow Ochre
- Lemon Yellow
- Ultramarine Blue
- Cerulean Blue (Hue will do)
- Vermillion or Cadium Red
- Alizarin Crimson (optional)
- And whatever you have
