Zinc etching can be used in the same way as copper etching, such as hard ground, line and aquatint. However, it is a softer metal and is condusive to freer techniques such as open bite and scrapping and burnishing the plate creatively. In addition to this, it bites much faster than copper. Cost includes $45 of basic materials and the teacher will provide supplies for sale.
