Suitable for intermediate - advanced
Discover how to create mood to your landscape paintings in this two day studio workshop. Learn how to bring a sense of reality and atmosphere to your work. Students will learn fundamentals of tonal painting by observing light, tone and proportion. You will be shown a method of mixing colours tonally for outdoor landscapes through a series of exercises.
Materials
- Flat Palette or Palette Pad
- Palette knife
- 3-4 Canvas boards or canvas (10x12 inch to 10x14 inch) or whatever feels comfortable.
- Brushes - I recommend synthetic Neef ‘Long Flat’ in size 6 (also if the budget allows size 4 and 8).
- Odourless solvent + two containers or jars for solvent (solvent MUST be odourless)
- Rags or paper towels
Oil paints:
Marie’s recommended colour palette is:
- Titanium White or Zinc White
- Ivory Black
- Burnt Sienna
- Yellow Ochre
- Lemon Yellow
- Ultramarine Blue
Optional: Other colours could include
- Cerulean Blue (Hue will do)
- Vermillion
- or whatever you have
