This class is suitable for intermediate and advanced students
This is an 6 week course of 4 hours lessons designed to allow students to develop a real momentum in their art practice. Individual tuition will encourage personal visual language in their preferred medium. There will be some class exercises designed to equip students with skills that help visual problem-solving. Please refer to materials list provided.

Bring all your painting and drawing material ie brushes, paints, drawing materials, collage materials etc
There will be a drawing exercise to start the session.
I’ll be setting up a subject based on shoes. I’m aware that some of you have done this exercise before, but this time I want to group several pairs of shoes to create an interaction of form that has potential to be the basis of an abstract idea
Bring a pair of shoes. Something interesting…we don’t want too many sneakers
Materials
- Black waterproof drawing Ink
- White gouache
- Wolff’s carbon pencil 6b if possible
- Bottle of masking fluid.
- Crepe rubber for removing masking fluid
- If available, Schminke make a masking fluid in a small bottle with a needle-like tip for fine line work. This would be an excellent extra
Brushes

Large wide house painting type brush

Your usual including a wide Hake Brush for wash and a wide bristle brush for glue

PVA glue

Paper;

Sheet of watercolour paper ( 190-220 grms cold pressed)

Blade cutter

Flat palette
For collage;
- Tissue paper and brown wrapping paper.
This exercise can be developed into a painting or a more substantial drawing/painting for the remainder of the session.
Bring another surface ie canvas or heavier watercolour paper if you’re happy to do this or bring your own work project to continue or start.
